You Should Know Better

You should know better
I'm amazed
You blew this crater in me once before
The sun still shines through
Look, I'll show you

You should know better
I'm sinking
My feet on steady ground, and yet…
my heart sits in my shoes;
so stay off of my toes

You should know better
I'm never whole
Your name floats from painted lips,
and I cringe inside
The game has ended

You should know better
I'm still angry
I could wake up not remembering you
That's the reality,
and I would welcome it

You should know better
I'm addicted
Your words break through my borders;
three words to be precise
My bloody hands reach for you

And I should know better,
but I don't
